10:15 – Using Qigong and Meditation to Manage Stress with David Tucker, LAc, LMC

  • Understanding stress from a Chinese medicine perspective.
  • Using simple Qigong movements for gaining control of health points.
  • Increasing mind body awareness by adding meditation to movement.

David incorporates additional training in 5 Element Acupuncture. He is a Zen practitioner. His practice, the Zen of Healing, is located in Freemont. He conducts successful sessions for the wellness program at Starbucks.

11:00 – Conscious Breathing and Movement with Michele Halffill, LAc

  • Use breathing techniques which increase oxygen flow.
  • Tap on acupuncture points to stimulate energy.
  • Use body movements to balance brain hemispheres.
  • Appreciate the feeling of being grounded and relaxed.

Michele is opening an acupuncture practice in the U District.

11:30 Lunch Break

Noon – Digestion and Metabolism with Kellie Creamer, MCommH.

  • Understand human digestion and how it is one of our body’s most important systems for health and wellness.
  • Learn the six tastes on our tongue and the roles they play in digestion.
  • Uncover some myths and mysteries around metabolism.
  • Realize whether or not there are things you can do to increase or decrease your metabolism.
  • Using Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) to determine wellness, realizing its advantages and disadvantages, and calculate your own BMR.

Kellie is a nutrition practitioner on Bainbridge Island, and has recently published a lifestyle wellness book called “My Body, My Vehicle.”

1:00 – Pillars of Health with Zachary Sparer, ND

  • Feel the power which comes from building optimal health.
  • Understand the importance of 6 pillars of health: Rest & Relaxation, Food & Digestion, Activities & Exercise, Discharge & Elimination, Joy & Satisfaction, and Love & Relationships.
  • Identify individual needs, set a goal, and create a plan.
  • Learn how to troubleshoot plan implementation difficulties.

Zachary is contributing the section on endocrinology to a Naturopathic encyclopedia and is opening a naturopathic practice in the Lake Union area.
